Dot drug and alcohol testing
The Department of Transportation (DOT) has new rules for testing drugs and alcohol, all the transportation employers and safety-sensitive transportation employees. This new scheme was designed to accidents and damage to the abuse of drugs and alcohol caused the driver to avoid. DOT has some rules on how these tests, what is the process of testing and these tests to perform behaviors. These rules cover the employees of the federal and local government, needed for a commercial driver's license (CDL).
Education and Training Drug Testing
Every company has to provide the educational materials for drivers, which explains the requirements and policies for the testing of drugs and alcohol intake regulation. According Sec.382.601 (b), the educational materials include the following discussions.
· Personal names of the directors designated by the employer to answer questions about the material.
· Requirements of the directors, subject to the abuse of alcohol and controlled substance requirements.
· Explanation of safety-sensitive function until the day of the period needed for the drivers to conform to understand.
· Specific information about the behavior of the driver is prohibited.
• The circumstances under which the driver will be tested for drugs, alcohol or other substances.
• The DOT test conducted for the presence of drugs or alcohol substances.
• The list requirements for the submission of alcohol or drug testing by the driver.
· Explanation of what the refusal to the testing of drugs or alcohol present.
• The consequences for drivers found to be violated rules banning alcohol or other substances. This includes the immediate removal of driver safety-sensitive functions.
• The information on the influence of drugs, alcohol or similar materials on health and the work of the people.
Drugs that DOT Test
As defined in the DOT, the companies would test for alcohol and drugs, the following five:
· Marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines and phencyclidine (PCP).
Tests that require different dot
According to DOT rules, drivers have the following tests drugs and alcohol: Pre-Employment Testing, the reasonable suspicion testing, sampling and testing after an accident.
Apart from these four tests, the return-to-duty and Follow-up tests "Linked to the employer's policy implications, to be conducted under the DOT rule.
