ignition interlock colorado
Colorado DUI, Interlock device, the drinking classes and leaving the state?
My fiance has 3 or 4 DUIS (he has now quit drinking) and state of Colorado has taken him from the "drinking" classes and do community service and he must install an ignition interlock on his car. He wants to go to AZ with me, and he is making an appt to talk to the judge. He said his main concerns are the classes if he can do in AZ and if the DMV will CO let him go when he put a locking device on the state od CO He was never issued a probation officer so I guess he was not on trial? Anyone know? Thanks (and no one felt obliged to preach to me - I am aware I am married to a recovering alcoholic.)
I am not familiar with how things are done in Colorado, but from what you have described about the substance abuse counseling, service to the community, and the ignition lock he has to complete, is certainly that sounds like he is on trial ... Who does he report these things when he has it completed? This sounds like something a probation officer would follow ... If he on trial, he may try his supervision transferred to Arizona through the Interstate Compact ... He should talk to his PO about the details on how to get that done ... or it can be done (without more details, I can not accurately predict when a transfer could happen) ... The DMV would not have the legal authority to say anything about a transfer ... Depending on where in Arizona He wants to live, it is possible that Arizona has nevertheless ignition lock ... If he really is not on trial, my only suggestion is to talk to who it is that controls are welded and see what are possibilities ...
