ignition interlock cable
Should I run the ignition recall?
I have a 99 Accord EX 4cyl. I have problems starting my car. Sometimes when I am not all the key will happen. No clicking or whirring noises, like lights on the dashboard. It takes a number of turns of the key to the starter eventually snaps. Sometimes when I drive, The car will be off and back on really quickly. This can be scary when pulling out into traffic. My dealer said I need a new battery, positive battery cable, and starter. I was intend to replace the battery and the cable first before forking up $ 200 for a starter. Is the starter, battery cables and the culprit of my problem, or is it something to do with the ignition switch recall? The dealer said that the interlock Recall has been performed on my car.
This is without doubt the ignition, I had exactly the same problem in my 1998 Accord described. I recently had the recall performed and havent had the problem since. What happens is the metal contacts in the car and wore prematurely deploying and, while driving was a brief loss of connection with the contact. It is not the starter, because once the car is running will not turn off and on, because the starter has nothing to do with the Once car is running. I might a battery cable, but these cars are not known for this problem.
