Advances in technology and falling prices mean that you now keychain alcohol breath testers can buy at incredibly cheap prices. Look around and you find them available for only $ 5 and up $ 10.

But you get what you pay. The simple and sad fact is that a breath tester that kind of price is more than a novelty. It might be fun for parties, as a vague, but pleasant guide to who has the most drunk. But it would be dangerous to rely on if you plan to drive. Some these inexpensive devices are wrong game.

So far Keychain Breathalyzer - the kind that you or your keychain you wear on a chain around your neck - are increasingly popular. Are there any that can reliably tell whether it is safe to drive?

As already noted, you get what you pay for, and some of the more expensive models keychain give some pretty good guidance. They are not totally reliable - only the expensive and technologically advanced professional models by law enforcement authorities are completely reliable - but the lectures they give you an excellent indication of whether you are able to legally drive.

One example is the BreathKey Keychain Breathalyzer, which bills itself as the smallest bladder in the test world, and the only digital keychain breathalyser test approved by the FDA.

It is not cheap - a list price of around the $ 70, although you should be able to find it for $ 60 or less at online discount retailers - but it has a good job.

But having said that, if you want it sure that you have not booked for drink driving, the best advice is that you should not drink at all.
