alcohol interlock device
non-alcohol offense for which ignition lock, right in Missouri?
This is in Missouri. 2 years ago I was pulled over, I passed the Breathalyzer and refused a urine test. Eventually I was convicted of a DUI for non-alcohol reasons. Even if I had a minor urinary refusal. All my crimes had nothing to do with alcohol, but a requirement to return my license to get an ignition interlock device. Despite the lack of logic here, I would go ahead and install one, except the price for it is even more than my insurance costs! Is there a way to delete either this requirement, or get help to pay for this?
Your refusal to submit to chemical testing gives the state the right to require an ignition interlock. http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/c500-599/5770000041.htm You could to fight the assistance of a lawyer, but that would still be more expensive than the interlock. It is a state statute and it is very difficult to argue against that, especially after the fact. Some states have committed for help who can not afford to pay IIDs, but I have been unable to find anything to Missouri to give one of them. You can call the DMV and ask.
