Wrangler Intermittant starting problem after clutch replacement.?

Car: 2000 Jeep Wrangler, 4 liter, 57,000 mi., Stok. 2 weeks ago, went clutch out-replaced. 2 days later, intermittent problems starting. Sometimes button on, nothing, no clicks, etc. All other electrical ignition Just OK. Other starting times fine. Happens once or more almost every day can (so far) to start pumping the clutch, boating gear, and transferring an ignition on / off several times. Figured it would be the link / ign 'n interlock switch. Web questioned, found that switch can be bypassed by a fuse in the fuse panel. Did that. Problem remained. Took the Jeep back. Shop duplicated problem. They said bad interlock switch (although I am told that I passed and still had the problem). They replace switch (under dash, driver's side). Picked car up Monday. Started fine Tues, Wed Thursday, no go. Does the rowing, pumps, and switching;'ve started. Ran errands, it started 3 times. Any suggestions? Thanks much.

I was a 5-speed manual 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0L 85.000 mi. My problem sounds similar. I had no problems with the engine. After the clutch broke, replaced I for approx. $ 800.00 and as soon as I return the car began to hesitate, pitch forward, and sometimes die in traffic. It is an intermittent problem that gradually is getting worse. I took it to a mechanic who could not figure it out, so I took back to the dealer where I bought the car new. They say it needs a crankshaft sensor, new spark plugs, wires and distributor cap and the injectors and throttle must-carb'd. (clean any carbon build-up) I will not back until Friday. I will see what happens after a response. The dealer is charging $ 1034.22 for all the work. With a 15% coupon it is about $ 850.00 That sucks, but I have not much money on this car for major repairs only routine maintenance, so if this problem is resolved, I think I'm okay with the cost. I hope nothing else goes wrong, always quick!
