We all know that drinking and driving is a combination of danger, driving under the influence is a cardinal sin of the road. WeÂ've listened to the warnings, weÂ've read the statistics, weÂ've looked at the school specials. We know ita been a bad thing to do and yet, some of us do it anyway.
Unfortunately, those who drink and drive often with impunity: they just donÂ't get pulled over or noted by the law. But those who get pulled over, which cause an accident, or involved in any car accident, often get noticed ... in hand cuffs.
In the U.S., the person receives a penalty for driving under the influence depends of various factors. Included in this is the state where the offense occurred. Although all 50 states have two statutory offenses - driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level at least, 08 - some states charge people for driving with a blood alcohol level of .05. Some states are also allowed to have open containers in a car, where some not. Most U.S. states take into account the level of intoxication, and the number of violations. Based on these factors, some people do jail time, some people lose their license, and some people get off with a fine.
